So in thinking about professional athletes and their internet sites, I was thinking about last week's Daytona 500 race winner, Trevor Bayne, and his website. When Bayne, who is 20, won the race, people wanted to find out more about him. When they went to his website, they found the message "Full Site Coming Soon." They had obviously not expected Bayne to win anything this year. Even a week after the race, we still get the same message.
| Bayne's webpage still has no links |
This might be the glory with Facebook and Twitter, in that athletes could in very little time set up a fan club. Since being such a small name in the world of racing prior to last Sunday, Bayne's Facebook has over 10,000 "likes," meaning fans are find their way to his page. His Twitter page has over 37,000 followers. Maybe he really doesn't need to get that webpage done.
Maybe he is still reading "Websites for Dummies" and he hasn't finished the book yet. Give him a break!
